認知情報学とは？ / What's Cognitive Information Science?
本研究室では、人が顔や身体などの「情報」をどのように多感覚に知覚し認知しているのかを明らかにする研究を行っています。 外界の多種多様な情報を人間が脳内で処理する仕組みを認知科学的に解明しています。このような人の情報処理を理解することで、 情報先端技術を用いたコミュニケーションへ応用が可能になります。例えば、VR技術やAI要素技術の深層学習を用いた研究手法を活用し、 心理物理学的アプローチ（外界から五感に入力される情報と心理量との関係を調べるアプローチ）に基づいた研究を行っています。
Our laboratory conducts research to elucidate how people perceive and recognize "information" such as faces and bodies in a multisensory manner. We are working to elucidate the mechanisms by which humans process a wide variety of information from the outside world in their brains from a cognitive science perspective. This understanding of human information processing can be applied to communication using advanced information technology. For example, we are conducting research based on a psychophysical approach (an approach that examines the relationship between information input from the outside world to the five senses and psychological quantities), utilizing research methods based on VR technology and deep learning of AI elemental technologies.
