Research keywords including soft matter, drops, bubbles, foams, granular matter, complex fluids, and thermofluids.
Leidenfrost drops
Volatile liquid drops can levitate on very hot substrates. We investigate the dynamics and flows of these drops, as well as the stability of the thin vapor layer beneath them.

Interfacial flows / bubbles and foams
Multi-component fluids exhibit complex physical behaviors. We invesitgate such nonlinear dynamics, including particle-laden flows and foams.

Granular matter / Complex fluids
Granular matter, such as sand, behaves like a fluid but has unique characteristics. Because its behavior changes significantly when wet, we investigate interactions between particles and between particles and liquids.
