ProfessorKatsuhiko Fujiicurrently works at Kogakuin University as a principal investigator for
the laboratory of bioresource chemistry. Katsuhiko focuses on research
in isolation, characterization, and industrial application of microbes
contributing carbon cycle, including cellulolytic and chitinolytic bacterial/fungal
strains and their application to biowaste digestion or biofuel production.
Microbes producing biologically-active mucilage are also in his target.
Katsuhiko welcomes international students who enjoy and pursue MSc or PhD
degree in his lab.
Following facilities are equipped in the lab,
Clean-bench, analytical instruments for DNA and protein works,
Recent research topics includes,
・Microbial degradation of sewage sludge, especially digested sludge
・Upgrading of biogas using alkaliphilic and high-level CO2 tolerant microalgae
・Biochemical analysis of bioactive compounds in lichen photobionts
・Isolation of mucilage-producing bacteria and their industrial application
Proposal of new research topics are welcome.
